Project Bread - The Walk for Hunger

WHO WE ARE

51 years ago in Boston, a small group of people brought to life a big idea. Hunger was a problem in Massachusetts. And they weren’t going to wait around for someone else to do something about it. So what did they do? They took a long walk.

Their actions made a difference then, and still is today. The people of Massachusetts have followed in their footsteps for five decades to come together on the first Sunday of May in Boston. Every year, more than 10,000 caring people like you support the Walk for Hunger to shine a spotlight on the issue of hunger, acknowledge our neighbors who can’t depend on having enough food to eat, and make progress by raising awareness and much needed funds to invest in community hunger solutions. Through this support, in 2018 Project Bread invested $1 million in community programs across Massachusetts addressing hunger.

You are changing lives, restoring hope, and walking toward a better future for all of Massachusetts.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers are essential to the success of the Walk for Hunger. Every year, upwards of 2,000 volunteers work together to make the event fun, safe, and rewarding for every participant. Positions are available at Boston Common, Arsenal Park, and along the 20-mile route throughout the day that are suited to an array of personalities and interests—thank you to our volunteers!

Do what you can to show you care about other people, and you will make our world a better place.Rosalynn Carter
